New year, New me?

New year, new me! How many times have you seen that caption this week? The new year is always an exciting time of the year; it brings fresh beginnings, resolutions and a plethora of mantras resonating the season of new opportunities and goals.

While this is a very positive and motivational mindset, society seems to limit this thought process to only the beginning of the year. Why is that? I'm not claiming to have the answer to that question, but will follow up with another question: Is that the case for you?

Setting goals at the beginning of the year is a way to jumpstart a new habit, whether it be fitness/health focused, or something as simple as remembering to start the dishwasher before bedtime. Regardless of the task, how long do these habits last? Two weeks? A Month?

A task becomes a habit through consistency; doing an action enough times in a row, making it a routine. As someone who's struggled with weight loss, I am very familiar with the 'first of the year diet'. Until i was truly serious about making a change and realized achieving a goal was more than just starting, I wasn't able to keep the weight off. Now, I have been actively consistent for 119 weeks, completing 3 or 4 days of intentional activity a week.

Consistency is the key to growth. Habits, good or bad, are created through routine. This metaphorical 'key' can also be viewed as love; self-love; caring more about your own health and well-being first, before anyone else's. You can't pour from an empty cup. When i understood i was the only person with the power to change my life, i started to see changes happen. I had to initiate that power within myself, and that began with self love.

The mission of the Life Guru Brand is to promote self-love. When you're able to fully love yourself, making yourself priority becomes much easier. Self care is self-love, and I am here to help you find that key within yourself.

I deserve the love I give to others

Good things take time.

Complaining is not a conversation.

Movement is medicine.
